Carter’s story

13-year-old Carter from South Shields was diagnosed in 2024 with a rare blood cancer, blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN), after several months of unexplained bruising and fatigue. He began treatment almost immediately, undergoing chemotherapy following the insertion of a port and later requiring a blood transfusion due to low blood counts.

Cancer Research

After a difficult period in hospital, Carter is now doing much better and has returned to school full-time, spending time with friends and regaining a sense of normality.
